Designer Radiator Fitting in Bloxwich, Walsall

A customer in Bloxwich got in touch because they wanted to do something about an old radiator that had seen better days. It was tucked against the wall, doing its job just about, but it looked tired and took up more space than it needed to. They wanted something that would heat the room properly and look good at the same time.

What the Customer Wanted

They had already spotted the style they were after. A tall vertical column radiator in antique gold. It is a striking finish and it suits older properties and modern interiors equally well. The double column design means it has two rows of columns running top to bottom, which gives it more surface area to give off heat. More surface area means more warmth into the room.

The job was in Bloxwich, which is an area I cover regularly as part of my work across Walsall and the surrounding towns.

Taking Out the Old Radiator

Before anything new goes in, the old radiator has to come off the wall cleanly. I drained it down, disconnected it from the pipework and removed it without causing any damage to the wall or the floor. The existing pipework connections were in good shape, so I was able to work with what was already there rather than having to move pipes around.

It is worth taking the time to do this properly. Rushing the removal stage can cause problems when you come to fit the new one.

Fitting the New Vertical Radiator

The new radiator is a tall vertical double column in an antique gold finish. It sits upright on the wall and draws the eye immediately. Because it runs vertically rather than horizontally, it fits into a narrower section of wall without looking cramped. That made it a good choice for this particular room.

I fixed the wall brackets securely, connected it to the existing pipework, filled the system back up and bled the radiator. Bleeding means releasing any trapped air inside so that the hot water can flow through every part of it properly. I then checked the connections for any signs of leaking and tested the radiator at full temperature before leaving.

How It Turned Out

The customer was happy with how it looked on the wall and with how quickly the room came up to temperature. The double column gives out a solid amount of heat, and the antique gold finish makes it a feature rather than something you try to hide.

It is a small change to a home but it makes a real difference to both the look of the room and how warm it feels.
