Designer Kitchen Radiator Installation in Wednesbury

A customer in Wednesbury got in touch because they were having their kitchen updated and wanted a radiator that looked the part as well as doing its job properly. The existing radiator was an old standard panel type. It worked, but it looked dated and did not suit the new kitchen at all. They had seen designer radiators online and wanted to know if fitting one was a straightforward job. I told them it was, and we arranged a date to get it done.

What a Designer Radiator Actually Is

A designer radiator is still a radiator. It connects to your central heating system the same way a standard one does. The difference is the shape and finish. Instead of a plain white panel on the wall, you get something that looks more like a feature. They come in different styles, sizes and colours, so you can pick one that fits the room rather than one that just blends into the background.

In a kitchen especially, where people spend a lot of time, it makes sense to think about how your heating looks as well as how it performs. This customer chose a vertical column radiator in a matt finish that worked well with their new units and worktops.

How the Installation Went

I started by isolating the central heating in that area of the house. I removed the old radiator and the brackets it was sitting on. The pipework underneath was in good condition, so I did not need to make any changes there. I fitted new wall brackets in the right position for the replacement unit, connected the new radiator to the existing pipework using new valves, and then refilled and re-pressurised the system.

Once everything was connected, I bled the radiator. Bleeding a radiator means releasing any trapped air inside so that hot water can flow through it properly and it heats up evenly. I then checked all the joints for leaks and made sure the radiator was reaching the right temperature before I left.

The whole job was done in a few hours. The customer did not need to take a full day off work for it.

The Result in the Kitchen

The finished radiator looks completely different to what was there before. It sits flush against the wall, heats the room well, and actually adds something to how the kitchen looks rather than taking away from it. The customer was happy with how it tied the room together once it was up.
